Individual Therapy for Adults
Individual psychotherapy for adults is tailored to meet the needs of the client. Using a compassionate approach with a focus on a client's strengths, both psychologist Peter Murphy, Ph.D. and psychotherapist Julia Solarz, M.A. treat adults struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, divorce, addiction, grief and learning differences, among other challenges. Psychotherapy will help guide the client toward a greater understanding of his or her own feelings and experiences. Clients will also explore how early relationships influence present patterns -- valuable insight that can lead to a healthy shift in perspective and greater emotional well-being.

Individual Therapy for Children
Our psychological approach to children is comforting and flexible with an initial focus on games, art and role play in order to establish rapport and build trust. Parents become an important component of the psychological treatment and are encouraged to help the child transfer skills learned in therapy to home, social and school environments. We are experienced working with children who have learning disorders such as ADHD, who are on the autism spectrum and who suffer from various mood disorders.

Couples Therapy
A variety of stressors can interfere with intimacy in romantic relationships -- anger, infidelity, financial turmoil and poor communication to name a few. Couples psychotherapy helps clients understand how early family experiences may have contributed to patterns of interaction that negatively impact the relationship. Couples psychotherapy helps clients navigate conflict and strengthen their relationship by developing the skills to regulate emotion, communicate more clearly, understand differences, and problem solve effectively.

Family Therapy
Family members are part of a system in which each individual plays a role. Patterns of interaction in every family at times, negatively impact one or more members. In such cases, psychotherapy involving the entire family can be a highly effective means of treatment resulting in improved communication and emotional and psychological benefits for all.
